Sudhir,

Just to make sure that we on same ground

There is not only compatibility to be check, but pages you create should look "identical" to PSD files provide. As of now, no single page is close to PSD original

Denis.

Sudhir Kelappan on September 27, 2012:

Agreed Denis.

I have discussed this issue with the HTML/CSS team.

An observation from the team when I discussed (Apologies for not bringing this up earlier).
The width of the pages seem to be not equal for all the pages.
Usually  websites follow a fixed width design. Just want to understand from you that this unequal design is intentional.

Just to let you know, maintaining a different width for each page should normally be possible and the team can make it to match the original designs. If in case  any technical limitation is faced during the process we will let you know and discuss.

-Sudhir

Sudhir,

Please specify pages and differences.

Denis.

Sudhir Kelappan on September 28, 2012:

Dear Denis,

To give a better idea of what we were trying to say pls. refer to the attached two screen-shots  for comparison.

Key things to note:

1) The main container of the page is not centre aligned ( left margin: 107px and right margin:  126px ).
Right now we have proceeded by assuming it to be centre aligned.

2) The difference in top margin of the content listing ( 21 px and 17 px )

3) The total width of the pages is more than that is usually followed in general.
The team had tried to use the standard size which probably could have resulted in some aspect ratio issues.

Wanted have your advise on how to proceed.

-Sudhir

Denis Slabakov on September 28, 2012:

Sudhir,

1) Please keep container alignment as it is done by design team

2) There two option to choose from

a) to follow the guidelines created by desiners
b) choose any option from designed pages - 17, 21 or whatsoever and use the one you have chosen

I am fine with both options

3) Please stick to 1167 width

Aa far as I understand, footer might be the same on all pages

Please use the one drafted for HomePage

Thanks,
Denis

Sudhir Kelappan on October 1, 2012:

Thanks for the clarifications Denis.

Will keep the main container centre aligned and will choose an appropriate top margin for the content listings.

Regarding the page width:

We can maintain a width of 1167px.

Just to inform you in advance, a page width of 1167px can lead to a horizontal scroll bar appearing in the browser window when the pages are viewed on normal resolution screens (e.g. on a screen of 1024x768).

If the user base would normally be using a higher resolution screen then this will not be a problem at all.

-Sudhir

Denis Slabakov on October 1, 2012:

Sudhir,

Please use 1167px

Less that 10% of users will be affected and it is dropping - http://gs.statcounter.com/#resolution-RU-monthly-201109-201209

Sudhir Kelappan on October 12, 2012:

Dear Denis,

We are progressing on designs but the change of width has not been started yet.
Planning to take this up in a single iteration as it will affect the appearance of all the pages.

For pages where functionality part is almost complete, the designs should normally be OK in Firefox and Chrome except for aspect ratio related things in pop ups and general spacings & margins. This would be taken care along with change of width.

There are some glitches in IE and safari which will be fixed soon.

With the above exceptions noted, the pages in general should be very close to designs. There are minor mismatches which are already recorded and will be fixed soon and tracked to closure.

Regards,
Sudhir
